Avid Environmental Policy
It is Avid’s responsibility to minimize our impact on the environment, in our global operations and in the products we design, manufacture and market. We will follow sound environmental practices and encourage our employees to identify opportunities for reducing waste and conserving energy.
Our environmental goals are:
- Endorse product stewardship through adopting and integrating Design for Environment (DfE) practices ensuring minimal environmental impact throughout the product lifecycle
- Promoting environmental responsibility in our supply chain
- Adopting the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle while promoting waste-reduction programs in our global operations
- Build an Environmental Management System ensuring: (i) goals are established and monitored; (ii) processes and technologies are continually reviewed for best practices; (iii) process improvements are continuously championed; and (iv) all employees are aware of and responsible for maintaining environmentally sound business practices
- Continued compliance with global laws and directives affecting our products and operations

Compliance with European Union WEEE and RoHS Directives
In January 2003, the European Union adopted two important environmental directives -- the Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and the Directive on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). In combination with additional Directives in the EU and other geographies, they represent an important milestone in providing a safer environment for future generations.
Compliance with China Ministry of Information Industry's RoHS Directive
In response to the China Ministry of Information Industry's ("MII"), "Management Methods for Controlling Pollution Caused by Electronic Information Products Regulation," better known as "China RoHS," Avid Technology, Inc. ("Avid") has adopted the following compliance protocols:
Compliance with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH)
Regulation 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) is the new European Union (EU) chemicals law that became effective on June 1, 2007, with phased deadlines through to 2018. Avid supports the overall REACH goals of protecting human health and the environment.
