Avid Third Party Certification Program

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re interested in learning more about the Avid Third Party Certification Program, here are answers to some frequently asked questions:

Q:  Which third party products and solutions are certified?

A:  You will find existing qualification information on the web pages associated with each product family where qualification (with or without formal certification) has been preformed.

Q:  Can any company participate in the Avid Certification Program?

A:  No, this is a selective program. Potential partners must apply to participate in the program (see below).  Avid will select companies based on the existence of a program at all, the anticipated benefit to our mutual users , and the resources available to take a third party through the evaluation and qualification process.  We appreciate your company’s interest in our program, and will do our best to respond to your inquiries promptly.

Q: Is Avid responsible for resolving compatibility issues with products that participate in the Avid Certification Program?

A:  This is a joint responsibility of Avid and the third party partner. For “Avid Certified” products, both Avid and the third party partner will provide users with clear information on where to find support.  If an issue cannot be readily resolved, then Avid and the third party will work closely together to address it.

Q: How does the Avid Certification Program relate to similar testing and qualification that Avid has done in the past?

A: Avid has historically both formally certified and has also qualified many third party products for use with Avid products. The previously certified products have been accompanied by announcements and are described in conjunction with web-based information on relevant Avid product families. The “qualified” designation is for products that Avid has tested internally, or products that support shared software or hardware standards. While these products do not have intercompany agreements or support programs associated with them, they are expected to work together with Avid products, without any major compatibility issues.

Q:  Where can I find information on the Avid web site about compatibility between third party products and Avid products?

A:  You’ll find qualification information associated with many Avid product families in several areas of the Avid web site.

You can also reference the All Avid Product Listing as a way to transition to the compatibility pages for each product family.

Q:  How many third party products will Avid certify in the future?

A:  Avid will be selective about the products it chooses to certify because certification requires considerable time and investment.  “Avid Certified” certification will be reserved for only a few products per year.  Over time, Avid hopes to develop additional programs and tools and support, so that many more third party partners can benefit from this program.

Q: If a participating Avid or third party product changes, is it still certified?

A: No.  The program is meant to be “version-aware,” meaning the product must be re tested in the event of any material software or hardware change with Avid’s product or the third party product.

Q:  I would like to have my third party product certified by Avid, and I see that there is a program in place for similar products.  What do I do?

A:  Send an email to us at certpartner@avid.com and tell us about your product and interests.  Please be sure to include the following information if available:

  • Company and contact information
  • Product name, description, and URL link for the product of interest
  • Avid product family of interest
  • Overview of your current testing program between your product and Avid products
  • Overview of the compatibility and performance you’ re achieving with your product when used together with Avid products

Q:  I would like to have my third party product certified by Avid, but I see that there is no program in place.  What do I do?

A:  Share your ideas with us at certpartner@avid.com, providing similar information to what’s suggested above.  This is a new program, and we will consider your ideas for new areas where certification would be valuable.

Welcome to the Avid Third Party Certification Program

As part of our dedication to giving our product users more choices and supporting open platforms, Avid is pleased to announce the Avid Third Party Certification Program. Through this program, Avid will test and certify third party products and solutions for use with Avid products and solutions. Because this program will take the guesswork out of determining which products are compatible, at what level, and where to get help, it’s a great asset to our mutual users and to Avid’s invaluable community of Development Partners.

Why a Certification Program?

For Avid product users looking to expand your media production systems — often with an array of third party products — this program will help you find and evaluate qualified products. You can find clear information on how these products and solutions are supported, where to find information and help, and where to purchase products, so you can make choices with confidence.

For Development Partners, we provide the tools and support to fortify your own independent testing to maximize product compatibility and performance.
